“Burnout must be identified and treated in a timely manner. Otherwise, the effects it produces on both the personal and professional life will be extremely serious.” This was the conclusion of the specialists invited to the webinar “Burnout: how to recognize it and how to prevent it”, the first online event organized by the independent telemedicine platform Digital Clinics.
The invited speakers, Dr. Ioana Silion, primary care physician psychiatrist and doctoral student in medical sciences, and Sorina Faier, Managing Partner Elite Searchers, explained in detail the methods by which professional exhaustion can be recognized in the initial stages, how it can be prevented and treated, as well as how it can affect the productivity of a company.
Burnout, considered the “occupational disease of the century”, has increased exponentially in the last two years. The COVID-19 pandemic has added to the usual tasks at the workplace the stress of illness, lack of predictability, and adaptation to telework. All of this led to pressure, permanent stress, anxiety, and from there to burnout was just one step.
"Burnout syndrome represents a negative change in a person's behavior, the way they think, their perceptions, their behavior, and is caused by prolonged stress at work. We are talking about burnout when fatigue felt over a long period of time - which can vary in time depending on the tolerability of each individual - begins to affect daily activities and even changes the dynamics of personal life," explained Dr. Ioana Silion, whose personal project is the development of a national burnout prevention project. The doctor joined the Digital Clinics telemedicine platform. For more details and appointments, access this link.
